Open seven days a week,
365 days a year for occupational injuries. |
Healthline Medical Group is 7 days per
week, 365 days per year. Our hours of operation are:
Monday through Friday 7:00am to 11:00pm, and
Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays 9:00am to 6:00pm. The
goal achieved by extending the hours of service was
to maintain continuity of providing care for the industrial
injured worker, as well as reducing the reliance upon
emergency room services for after-hours care. This helps
to reduce overall costs of medical care and assists
our professional staff with adhering to ACOEM guidelines
for medical treatment.

Healthline's Extended Hours of Service |
 |
Healthline Medical Group is pleased to
offer extended hours of service to meet the needs of
the occupational medical community in the San Fernando
Valley. Our staff of dedicated employees are there to
greet you and quickly get you and your employees the
medical attention that they need during Healthline’s
seven day per week operating schedule.
|
Please be certain to send a signed requisition (Request
for Service) form along with your injured worker. Healthline’s
staff are also available during limited, extended hours
to treat private, non-industrial injuries and illnesses.

Worker’s compensation coordinators |
Healthline
Medical Group employs three full time occupational liaison
associates who provide the workman's compensation carriers,
adjusters, nurse case managers and employers with all of
the
information that they require to process each injury. Procedures
such as MRIs, CT scans, referrals to consultants and approval
for physical therapy must all be pre-authorized before HMG
can schedule these appointments. Insurers
need to know the disability status on every injured worker
and failure to provide this information in a timely manner
can delay payment of those benefits to the patient. Utilizing
HMG's computerized electronic medical record has greatly
improved
our ability to quickly process this data and assist
the workman's compensation insurer's staff in completing
their
tasks.
Healthline's fax manager system allows our staff to
fax appropriate medical records directly from their workstation.
The system notifies them via email when a fax did not transmit
properly.

Free transportation on initial
evaluations of injured employees, to and from the worksite. |
 |
Healthline Medical Group provides van
service free of charge to its existing client base for
transportation
of new injuries to our facility. This reduces the number
of hours spent by supervisors or co-workers
in transporting the injured worker to our office. The
van service is currently provided 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday
through
Friday.

Physical and Occupational Therapy |
Healthline
Medical Group employs three registered physical therapists,
one physical therapy assistant, one physical therapy aid
and
one physical therapy receptionist to staff the Rehabilitation
Department. The focus of the department is on reducing the
patient's subjective complaints of pain while improving their
objective range of motion. The ultimate goal is to get the
patient
independent with a home exercise program as soon as possible,
so that the injured worker can return to their full, normal
work duties without any restrictions.
An
effort is made to
schedule patients around their work shift. Saturday office
hours for physical therapy have been beneficial in
helping
achieve this goal. The P.T. staff at Healthline Medical
Group are in constant communication with the physician staff
that are treating the patients. Progress reports
are
generated by the P.T. staff so that each time the physician
sees the patient in follow-up, the physician is aware of
the
total number of physical therapy visits and whether or not
the patient has achieved an independent status with respect
to the exercise program that has been provided. Healthline's
professional staff are well versed in ACOEM guidelines which
are now being implemented to control costs within the California
workman's compensation system.
|
| |
 |
Healthline Medical Group's P.T. department
is quite proficient in handling the various repetitive
trauma disorders that are seen in the industrial community
affecting the upper extremities. Educational handouts
on ergonomics and other common disorders are provided
for the patient. The goal is to get the injured worker
to participate in their rehabilitation.
|
|
| |
Healthline's P.T. Department also focuses
on aerobic conditioning, so that patients can resume
and be capable of handling handling their
work duties. Various
pieces of P.T. exercise equipment are utilized in this
department to achieve this goal.

Ancillary services:
laboratory, x-ray and OSHA approved diagnostic testing such
as: pulmonary
function testing, vision screening, electrocardiograms and
audiometry. Urine drug screening, hair sampling analysis
for drug testing and evidential breath testing (breath
alcohol
testing) are also performed. |
| Healthline
Medical Group performs urine drug screen testing for many
employers. In some cases
HMG serves as the collection site for the specimen.
In
other cases, the physicians at Healthline Medical Group serve
as Certified Medical Review Officers (MRO). This process
ensures patient confidentiality, proper chain of custody
handling
of the
specimen to follow
federally mandated guidelines to prevent errors. Our director
in charge of monitoring
specimen collection can be seen in this photo performing
medical data input on a patient. |
| |

|
Healthline Medical Group performs audiometry
screening, as well as annual follow audiograms. The equipment
used
is calibrated annually and is OSHA certified. A large
volume of audio testing is performed at HMG for post-offer
pre-placement
physical examination purposes. Left: annual
follow-up examinations looking for significant threshhold
shifts.
|
|
| |
Healthline Medical Group has eight full-time x-ray
technicians who also have their Medical Assistant licensure.
We use Kodak processing equipment and are compliant with
all state regulatory regulations on radiological issues.
Our x-ray department staff has a full time responsibility
to prepare the patient's x-rays that need to be sent
out to consultants, as well as obtaining copies of MRIs
and other x-ray procedures that were performed at outside
x-ray sites.

|

Bilingual Staff |
| Healthline
Medical Group has a staff of front office receptionists
who handle the initial call from the employer. If the
patient arrives at our office without written authorization
to be seen, one of our staff calls the employer to verify
that the injury was work-related and that Healthline is
authorized to render medical care.
Injured workers, just like other patients, frequently have
disability forms or other types of paperwork that need the
physician's attention. Our front office staff take pride
in
holding that patient's hand through this process. Our goal
for the injured worker is to get their necessary paperwork
completed in a timely basis. |
| |
| Healthline
depends greatly upon it's core staff of medical assistants
and x-ray technicians. They perform services for the industrially
injured worker. A large volume of occupational medical services
are performed by this staff on a daily basis. In addition
to collecting urine drug screens they perform a large number
of post-offer pre-placement examination services. These services
include:
urine drug screens, evidential breath testing, audiograms,
pulmonary
function tests, laboratory studies, EKG's, as well as providing
necessary translation for patients whose primary language
is not English.
|
| |
| Healthline
Medical Group's marketing department is structured to be responsive
to the needs of the industrial community. Members of our marketing
team (Caren Berg and Mariesa Contreras, MBA, pictured) set
up and maintain protocols which are tailored to the individual
needs of our clients. They assist the employers by scheduling
tours of Healthline and by coordinating additional services
including: C.P.R. classes, flu vaccine clinics at the employer’s
site, health fairs to promote wellness and worksite walk through
tours for our physician staff, to help prevent injuries.
|
| |
 |
Healthline's staff of 40 full-time employees
as well as several part-time employees are professionally
managed by our administrator, Rita Gaudioso. Rita handles
HMG's payroll,
accounts payables and all of the business issues that
effect us on a day-to-day basis. She is also responsible
for the
staffing of our facility, as well as watching over
the vendors to provide services at a reasonable cost.
She also helps coordinate marketing activities to assist
our occupational marketing department.
|
|
| |
Healthline has a team of six full time
staff members who diligently work with Healthline's patient
population, insurance companies, third party payors,
workman's compensation carriers, adjusters and nurse
case managers in an effort to get compensated for Healthline's
professional services. Pictured here is Abbey Rose, who
is Supervisor of the Billing and Collections department.

| Healthline
Medical Group's billing department works
to coordinate the billing and collection of payments from
patients
and insurance carriers. Having
access
to the medical record with our electronic computerized medical
record system has made their job much easier. These folks
work diligently on a full-time basis to provide insurance
carriers and employers with the information they need to
process
claims. |

Pre-placement physical exams,
return to work evaluations, executive physicals. |
Dr. Berg is teaching
a patient on the computer about the specific medical
disorder that requires treatment. Utilizing computer-generated
anatomic models with educational descriptions, He is
able to show the patient what their problem is and
the current best known treatment for that specific
medical disorder.
|
|
|
| |
 |
Dr. Berg is performing a knee examination
on this patient and then he will enter the clinical data
into the electronic medical record. The patient is asked
to review the history noted by the physician to improve
accuracy and to help avoid errors at the point of data
entry.
|
|
| |
| Healthline
Medical Group provides a full array of post-offer pre-placement
physicals, as well as urine drug screens and evidential breath
tests. Our staff of medical assistants have been fully certified
in the
process of proper urine drug screen collection as well as
breath alcohol testing. Strict adherence to procedures and
policy is necessary in this department in order to maintain
100 % accuracy with specimen collection and processing. Healthline
performs both NIDA and non NIDA urine drug testing in compliance
with the Federal Registrar's policies and procedures: 49
CFR
part 40.

Dynatron evaluation: a computerized
functional capacity assessment that identifies employees
at
high risk for injury. |

|
Healthline Medical Group provides a
full compliment of health screening tools including:
Pulmonary function
testing, audiometric testing and Dynatron 2000 testing
for functional capacity evaluations. The picture seen
here shows a patient performing a functional capacity
test. This information is used to determine whether
or not the patient can safely perform essential job
functions
required of them in the workplace. We also use
this testing to have more objective evidence of a patient's
progress during physical therapy rehabilitation.

|
| |
|
| |
| Dr. Rosenblum (left) and
Dr. Berg (right) are seen here entering data and reviewing
patient files. Their
goal
is
to enter
all
pertinent information into the electronic medical record,
therefore facilitating access to typed versus hand-written
data without having to search for a chart. All reports including
diagnostic and labs are scanned into the patient's record.
This has improved our communication with HR directors, insurance
carriers, and outside consultants, as well as among the
treating
physicians within our clinic. Important information can be
faxed instantly from this system.
The EMR has valuable patient education tools
embedded in it such as diagrams and handouts that teach patients
how to perform home exercises and give them a better understanding
of their ailment. A drug to drug interaction program alerts
the treating physician that a particular medication prescribed
elsewhere or an herbal medication that the patient takes
could cause an adverse reaction. Patients have been very
receptive to this form of a communication tool that helps
to improve the quality of medical care that they receive. |
| |
In-house Dispensing
of Medications |
Healthline Medical Group dispenses pre-packaged medications
directly to the injured worker. This cuts down on patient
waiting time at the pharmacy and ultimately results in
the patient getting their necessary prescriptions without
delay, in turn reducing lost time from work.
